So I have the opportunity to purchase an older but well taken care of Jayco popup camper, and am curious what you all think of slide ins? Which do you think would be more workable? A topper or a slide in? Which would you prefer? I am torn at the moment because I love the look of the truck with the topper, but hate the lack of space. I love the dry storage, but hate the lack of headroom. My only concern with a slide in is where the hell am I going to put my spare tire now? I am going to look closer at it hopefully tomorrow and probably sleep on it for a few days. Let me know what you guys think, or maybe talk me out of spending the money!

I love slide ins, especially pop ups. Im not a fan of anything with a washroom though. Only issue I see is you will have to drop your topper off or your tool box/lights/back rack. Personally I think your truck with topper will work better when well set up, and will get you into alot more places.

Id also never run with the tailgate down like that, get a scrap yard tailgate and boxliner it inside and out. Riding with the gate down like that will chip the ###### out of it.

I'm still planning on looking at the camper this week, but if it doesn't blow me away with condition and the what nots, I will probably just stick with the original plan. I had a tough time sleeping last night trying to think of what I should do......nah, I didn't have a tough time sleeping ;)

If it were a short bed model, I would probably be really really interested, but as stated, it has to awe me for me to jump on it.

Have you ever thought of a Flippac? They're a bit pricey, but seem like exactly what you're looking for.

They are alot more available in your area than they are here, Id love one but to find a flippac in the midwest is like finding a needle in a haystack

haha go chilli!

Jimmeh did you go look at the camper? You may have to hold off on your spare tire carrier you have planned.

I just searched my photos and it looks like I didn't take one - damnit!

When i was on the Cali coast, this big Dodge dually was camping near me and he had the largest slide in I have ever seen. It extended on three sides and had 4 fairly large stabilization feet.

He let me see the inside and it was like being in a full RV.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, my details are pretty awful on this one :(
