Hot off the press!

I had these shackle mounts made so they would maximize the usable space on my ARB bumper.  In addition to the front mounts, I had them make a set of backing plates to increase the overall strength of the mount.  The ARB is a great bumper, but it's a little thin in certain areas and I really don't want to damage it.  They surprised me by coating them with this black paint and the overall finish looks great.

Backing Plates = 1/4"

Shackling Mounting Plate = 1/2"

Shackle Mount  = 1"

Holes are 1/2" and I'll be putting Grade 8 cadmium plated hardware in it - bolt, washers, lock washers + nylon threaded nut.  Because the mounts themselves are not direct to the frame, I think this will make an excellent setup for static pulls, but I'll shy away from the dynamic b/c it would destroy the bumper...but I'm sure these mounts would be fine!!

Here's a pic for you guys!!

Thanks guys!  Now it's finding the weak points on my bumper and reinforcing it in the right areas.  My welding class starts next week, so I'm getting there!

Those look Awesome.

I wish buddy didn't put that bull bar on my truck.. he had to remove the factory recovery hooks to install it.. and of course he didn't have them to go with the truck. :bat:

The gmt800 "recovery hooks" aren't worth the tinfoil they are made of!

Oh is that right.. Well I have the brackets that came with that bull bar and was thinking as a (plan B) having them modded for some beefy recovery points.

Yup!  I think it's a 10wk class so we'll be going through a few types of welding, technique etc.

I can't stand sending out my metal work, so it was time to learn how to do it myself.

Nope, the Landcruiser version (which is what I have) does not....but the Chevy version does.

I was pretty pissed when I found this out.
