Lookin good, how about running some 3/4" or 1" angle iron around the outside to protect the edges of the wood and sturdy it up a bit. Then you can run some angle iron crossmembers on the top that you can mount those bike racks to? That would keep the wood from sagging and sturdy it up too. I know a metal cover is appealing, but in the grand scheme it may end up weighing more than the wood, might end up rusting, and for sure will cost a lot more

Not bad ideas

I have 4" flat stock welded to the outer edge now, which sort of acted like a slider in the past

so far yesterday camping with it, it worked well

Pretty nifty little trailer you got there. I'd like one of those little utility trailers for trips and such, but since I'm single and the Yukon's cargo area is cavernous, I simply have no need for it right now. Eventually I want one I can mount a roof top tent on so that I can have the flexibility to set up a base camp for multi-day outings with the future family, whenever that happens...

this has my wheels spinning......in July  we headed out to half moon state park under the assumption that they had one lean-to left for the night, only to discover it was a glitch

so I slept in my hammock & my girls made this up for them that nite
2013-07-28083320.jpg

which has me contemplating some form of air mattress & an actual sil-nylon material covering I can make to cover this on my thread injector [sewing machine, my version is more manly sounding] that I could possibly attach with velcro
my other concern is pinning my upright support so it doesnt fall or move once its up & its actually locked in place

also been thinking about a slightly raised plywood bed & under it slides out a table through the tailgate area. On top of this plywood flooring I will add dense foam padding like I used on my weight lifting floor years ago

& possibly some form of tongue storage that is needed as well

Ok so I took the running boards off my yukon this summer

if no one takes them in the classifieds...

was thinking about adding them to the trailer, in fornt of & behind the fender

all I need is either some L brackets or some flat stock bolted to the frame & some sheet metal screws to attach it to the boards

not sure how this might look, but it will help my kids & me reach inside of it more easily

they are a 2 piece design withe plastic cover over the fiberglass support

2013-07-06123712.jpg

2013-07-26112650.jpg

my idea is the colored in white section in front of & behind the fenders

seen these on a jeep today & thought they looked similar to my rims

so I ordered a set from walmart.com since the local store didnt have any in stock

they're about as close as I can get, other than changing out the trailer axle which isnt doable

what they look like

& my Yukon rims

close enough for now

ok cancelled the order for those cheap hub caps

want to have the same rims as my rig

so I might go with these adapters that convert it from jeep 5x4.5 to GM 6x5.5

http://adaptitusa.co...eeladapter.aspx

I want to keep the stock axle since the hand brake is priceless for my kids & me when we move it around

worse case is I have to move the fender up or drop the axle under the springs to handle the 17" 265s which will be plenty large for it & new axle U bolts

however the rims from the junkyard are @$125

checked on my trailer when I was at my parents today

as snug as a bug in the rug all covered with snow begging to be used

OK so I have been thinking about LED interior lights for the trailer

call me frugal...

my concerns was do I go with an onboard battery charged from the yukon, since we only use it once or twice a year this might be a waste of $$$ & time

& where do I mount or hide the battery in or on the M416

or keep things with AA or AAA battery devices

so while at biglots I seen these & grabbed them

here is my idea for a simple but effective interior lighting

2014-01-11183612.jpg

the case seperates very easily & I believe will allow a flat head sunken screw to be added for mounting

2014-01-11183658.jpg

so I drilled the centers out with a 1/8" bit

2014-01-11183827.jpg

2014-01-11183841.jpg

& here they are ready to be mounted, the worse I haev to do is remove the batteries

2014-01-11183923.jpg

2014-01-11183912.jpg

2014-01-11183941.jpg

I like this "kiss" principle ~ keep it simple stupid

when something is going to fail its least when you expect it & the less parts required the better I feel

You'll like those. I have one over my sink because there's no light at it. It's nice and bright and lasts forever on a set of batteries.
