Ground clearance

DSC_1036.jpg

Our rough sanding shows the various layers of paints of different colors, it is not rust as previously thought, just paint showing through it must have peeled or cracked off & they kept covering it with additional layers, even though there are some small spots of rust mixed in there. The rough sanding allows the POR15 to grab hold. Not worried about it being perfectly smooth, as my intention is to cover the outside with the bed-liner as well.

And finally our finished coated side

Tomorrow we will Herculiner the sides we did today will warm(er) weather presents itself...

Oct 9th, my son started off sanding the rear & front of the trailer and applying the POR15 sealer, then we went to go take some autumn scenic photographs since the trees are ripe here this weekend, the sky, trees and temps are perfect !
After a couple of hours drying time, he then proceeded by giving the bed a second coat of Herculiner, after sweeping out all the leaves…

313651_1896685876848_751003332_n.jpg
Added coating to both sides, plus front & rear of trailer as well

Not too sure now that I like the look of the lining on the exterior of the trailer, I guess I don’t have to worry about tree branch scratches etc
DSC_1035.jpg
Now we need to work on a tailgate and lid/cover for the trailer. here you can see I have it dropping as a tailgate I have since redone this and it opens to the drivers side so you can safely enter & remove things from the passengers side

DSC_1038.jpg

Come spring time we will work on the undercarriage.

decided it was time to alter the rear gate into a door. I thought that having it open to the passenger side was a safer option when traveleing per se

Mike,
I noticed a bunch of your photos are no longer showing, just the links.

Also, I love how you get your kids involved. I'm sure they love working with their dad and they are learning invaluable skills along the way...that's exactly how I learned to how to work with my hands.

Lookin good sir! But it needs some bigger mud tires!!!!!

I agree with Craig, its awesome to see your kids getting so involved and helping with everything (in this thread and most of your posts!) Mikie PM'd me though, he said he wants a dust mask and gloves for his next grinding episode, and rubber gloves and a chemical mask for his next vaporous extraviganza. He says its crucial if you want to be a grandpa some day :P
